I used to have the Bleu album in my alarm clock cd player, and I had it cued to "Get Up." Unoriginal perhaps, but quite effective. On a whole I quite enjoy that album. I also love the Self song "Paint by Numbers." If you haven't heard it, I highly recommend you do. I just can't seem to get into The Rocket Summer. Something about his voice, or perhaps even his phrasing. This song in particular only brings to mind images of out of breath kids sucking on a helium balloon to try and catch it. Do you have any suggestions for another song that might be able to sway me? 'Cause something in me somewhere really wants to like this guy.
Jeff! Thanks for the comment. Not sure which Jeff you are or if I know you, but I'd definitely recommend the current single "So Much Love". Or any of the other songs in the post I referenced in today's blurb. "So Much Love" is probably the most broadly accessible thing he's written, but I fully understand the voice thing. It took a bunch of listens to get over it, listens I spent because I loved the songs just enough to press play again. Good Luck!
